Neve ParitzkiJerusalem's first cycling tunnel is open in Israel

The Kerem Tunnel is a great location to go on a hike or ride.
The Kerem Tunnel is the first bicycle tunnel in Israel and was officially opened in the year 2000 as a part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital.

The tunnel runs along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Motza route.  נווה פריצקי Its southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban, and the northern entrance is located in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a mile close to the Kerem junction.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and a slew of cyclists were present at a celebration to inaugurate the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Elkin explained that the modern tourist industry is a part of Jerusalem's treasures from the past and incorporates modern day tourism. "The inauguration of [this] tunnel is another aspect of the expansion of Jerusalem's city Jerusalem and its transformation into a dazzling tourist city for all types of audiences throughout Israel and around the globe."



Elkin his ministry, which responsible for the project, along with Jerusalem Municipality stated that his ministry invested hundreds of millions of shekels each year in the city's tourism development and in the development of new activities and ventures that will connect the magnificent historical past with the exciting future of Jerusalem. Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project.  נווה פריצקי The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the work.

Elkin explained that the Kerem Tunnel project is an important tool in realizing the vision to change the way of thinking and transport in Jerusalem. "The tunnel, which will connect with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing cycle paths within the city, as well as the ones that are being constructed in its diverse neighborhood. The tunnel is intended to encourage bicycle riding within its inhabitants, and to promote a green transportation revolution in Jerusalem."

It is now being utilized as an infrastructure tunnel that includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.
